Hi Marijo,Poor girl! Kinda makes you want to open a Elk deli doesn't it? Hey, would a dog help? I have a beautiful Australian Shepherd that is a great guard dog.Blessings,MarkYes, a dog would help. when I am ready and have found THE dog at the humane society - Mick will not return my calls. When HE has found a perfect puppy - I return his calls and remind him who is here day and night and would have to train the puppy - (I haven't had a dog since I was 6) SO if we both ever get on the same page at once.... but, then again, the dog would not run at night (we have bears and mountain lions) and would be either in the garage or a dog run with chain link on top too for his safety. I think Aussie shepherds or border collies are too rambunctious for us (the cats would have a heart attack at being herded?) but we have thought about a German Shepherd or lab or mix there of. Our neighbors say they don't have elk and they have dogs but they might not look out in the middle of the night like I do.... MY IRIS!
Hi Marijo.Wow! What an adventure. We mostly have mule deer and they leave my (not at all prize-winning) irises alone. Also, there are never more than a couple of them at a time. I don't think they're nearly as big as your elk, but I'm not sure I'd have the chutzpah to try to run them off!Thanks for sharing your adventure.DianneI was UPSET and on the porch... I have a simple and effective solution.When next you and hubby have haircuts gather up the discarded hair and put the hair into woman's nylon stockings.Hang them on the fence or border as hair filled bags along the perimeter of the iris bed every 2 feet or so.The scent of people will prevent approach and scavenging.This has worked for me to deter deer and rabbits.Haven't tried human hair - have tried bounce dryer sheets, cat poop, and many other suggested things - the scare crow has been working to keep the deer out but these elk! I might try that but my hubby uses the dog buzzer clippers on his head and rarely has more that 1/4 inch growth even when it is LONG - guess I could talk to my beautitian friends and have them save some?! My IRIS! Will need to spend some time asnwering your other question - there are many scriptures (even though you don';t like to have me quote the Bible - hey, you just did! Anyhow need to study and read before I reply. Mick is taking me to Outback today (65 miles one way) SOON! MArijoI can't believe that you live so far from a simple restaurant but your article about elk should have alerted me about you're being so far out in the boonies.Maybe a vets office or animal grooming salon with save you trimmings to hang near your iris that will smell more forbidding than human hair but you may well live too far away to access that.Sixty-five miles each way for a steak and a drink!?A small plane would seem easier!Things in vivid nightmares have gotten much worse and suggest demonic influences.If your prayers have any power I could certainly use deliverance.Paul - my nearest drink is about 35 years back (a lot farther than 65 miles) but I hear you - we have to go to Colorado Springs for major chain restaurants. We have a gift card so why not!? Anyhow, I can't help but feel that your nightmares are tied to other things - like maybe things you are doing/not doing that is opening you up AND until some of those things change you will still be open no matter how much prayer is going up on your behalf. I don't have any specifics in mind right off the top but it is what I am thinking. MarijoNever say never.But I have personal empirical proof that the unseen does exist spiritually; just like the wind which is unseen which can blow your house away so too do demons and aliens exist as interdimensionals who intersect with our reality very often.I am convinced that my focus in writings about them has brought them in like yellow jacket wasps to a picnic.Awful nightmares are simply the signature symptom of such demonics.Rarely are nightmares anything other.I am also convinced about the power of prayer from unquestioning faithful people who have oiled and finely tuned spiritual connections which is why I asked you to pray for my deliverance from darkness.Enjoy your long distance meal as it will likely be totally digested before you even get home!I agree with you totally about the demonic. We had a great dinner and trip in and out and didn't hit any critters coming in the dark - whew... and I totally agree with you about things we don't see (some of my pieces in the Owner's Manual series delt with just that...Thanks for writing!
