Perspective on Aging Well

Leaves
drifting down
Yellow
golden jewels
Orange orbs
fluttering
Their final
goodbye
Wind whipped
scarlet
Tempest
tossed, torn
Reminding of
snowy winter
Which can’t
be lingering far
In autumn
years
Sunshine’s lingering
rays
Of summer
past
Shine on my
back
My face
looks
Not to bleak
winter
Only to the
light
Of heaven’s
city
Beyond the
winter,
I live on
shores
Yet
unexplored
Ignoring
cold of old
Hope being
open doored
A smile
forming slowly
In cheeks
wrinkled
New lines
since yesterday
Eyes can
almost see
Him who died
for me,
Arms opened
welcome
This freed
child
He guides
hesitant footfalls
Age slowed
feet making
Progress
towards eternal,
Forward walking
me
I suppose we all think about aging and how it looks. I checked the mirror this morning and am not really a "happy camper". Let the hair go for almost 3 months and there really isn't that much gray but neither is it dark brown like it used to be. The worst thing is baggage around the eyes, oh, my. I also realize the freeing thought that this is the time to be comfortable with "just me". For the most part that rings true. I have regressed to the 14 year old make-up routine. The me who wore Revlon's Coral Vanilla and didn't need to look like a Mary Kay gal going out to get groceries. There is freedom in that.
Most important is my heart. I smile knowing it is in most capable hands, those of the Lord Jesus Christ. I glow knowing that there is no better place to be no matter how many "suit cases" the eyes of the physical me are lugging around. GRIN.

Yeah Marijo, I'll be 62 next month and I am loking my age these daysgood poemI get to get medicare come April..... GRIN
Wonderful poem Marijo. Aging is inevitable for all of us. Those with all kinds of money can maybe delay the signs or reverse the signs of aging with cosmetic surgery etc, but they're still aging. Your new pic is beautiful and so are you no matter what you think you see when you look in the mirror. As my husband always says, "We all got it coming."You might enjoy one I wrote YEARS ago - I will send it to you!I did enjoy it Marijo, as I know others would as well! Thanks so much for sending it!
Nice poem Marijo. There is nothing more beautiful than a person who has the love of God shining through their eyes, and that you have my dear. Your a young chick compared to me.Thanks Linda! HE is good.... You are older than almost 65? I can't believe that! Serious?I went on medi care the first of this month. boo hooI will go on it in April - hey do they send you the card the first day of your birthday month (like mine is April 12th so will I get one in April?)You will get a card just before April and you will go on Medicare the first day of April. At least thats the way it worked on my card and my husbands card so I assume that is the normal process. The first day of your birthday month you are officially on Medicare.
I love your honesty, Marijo! It seems after a certain age, if you're feeling buoyant you can look really young, but if you're tired whoo boy! The thing is, it's always worse to us than it is to other people looking at us!Will send you one written when I was in my 20s.... plus a big e-hug! THANKS!!!
