How to Post a Picture with Your Writing on SearchWarp

What is more appealing than a great article on a topic you love or “agree to disagree” with? One of the same with pictures!

I have longed to be able to share photos with my posts. Before the new editor, it was a lengthy process. Joel Hendon had written to tell me how to do it. Yep, long and intense but maybe I’d try it. Then my computer crashed and I sort of gave up.

This week, many weeks (really it was months) after the computer crash, I asked again, Bruce came to the rescue.

You may look at all your articles from the various SearchWarp sites on the main SW menu.

Find the control panel and then click on View/Edit your articles, green button, top row, second from the left.

Find the one you’d like to add a photo to. If you are posting a new piece the process is relatively the same from here on out.

Click the edit button or with a new piece you have the clean page before you. In both cases you look at the tool bar, the one on the NEW article editor. Go to the second row, third from the right is “image”. It is a square button which looks like a tiny photograph.

Click that button. If you are getting a photo from a URL address you come right into the correct place. If you are using one of your own photos on your computer look for the “upload” tab (third one over). Click that. Then click the “choose file” button and it will take you to your own photos.

Up at the top there is a drop down that says “look in”. You may then pick your file and photo that you’d like to download.

Double click the photo you want. Back to the box you click the turquoise bar which says “send it to the server”, soon your photo will appear in that dialog square and you can click OK.

It will then show on your document in SW. You might find some of your text to the right of the photo. The cursor is already right in front of the text. Simply hit your “enter” key once and it will bring all text below the photo.

To the right of your article is the blue bar to drag down to the end of the piece and then answer the questions about your bio, where you plan to post the piece, reprint rights etc.

Hit save and publish and there you have your article with the photo. Go on in and take a peek, it really worked!

The one I have included above is Mick and me at our wedding in 1985, back when he still had red hair and I, well, we won't go into that.

I think you can ignore the red ink about links not appearing at the end of your article. It is talking about the link for the photo you just added and that is ok to place there!

Have fun and I will be looking forward to more articles with photos in the near future, won’t you?

I am adding a photo of Tika to give some color to this piece!

Thanks so much Ella for your encouragement - I did the steps along with this so I made sure it worked. I am no techno person so thought I best make it step by step (Bruce will probably laugh out loud but hey, I an also a left and right, up and down kind of gal who gives (according to Mick) "Girl directions"....

ah, well..... now the red head has a very short hair cut and small goatee....still the guy of my dreams! We have four (count them 16 paws) kitties - maybe I should have put a more recent photo of Mick and me instead of Tika? Hum....

Thank you Marijo for this piece of good information. I love Tika by the way. Is she half human in a cat sense (clever, understanding, behaved .....)

You looked terribly sweet with hubby then !

thanks hilda for coming by - hope this is helpful! Tika is a bit shy but when she purrs and head butts you or sits in your lap it is heaven - all our cats are very well behaved except the Hooney boy - orange tabby - I have written many pieces about him on My Pet Tale (SW sister site) He is something unless I carry a water squirter with me 24/7....GRIN

Well done, Marijo! I absolutely love this photo of you and Mick, it's just gorgeous. As for Tika - wow, king (queen?) of the jungle!

Thanks - am going in today to explore more (some things I can do on my blog and maybe here too with photos) Tika is definitely queen of the jungle and our only girl kitty at present. (Tri-colored kitties are almost always female and she is definitely that - with 3 brothers in the house she has her work of directing traffic cut out for her. she is our smallest kitty and holds her position well, trust me!)

Hi Marijo. Thanks for the directions. The pictures made your article lively. I like your wedding picture. As for the change in hair colour, your present one is lovely too.

Appreciate your reading this and hope to see some photos on your articles too... I have some gray (not very much) but it lightens my hair and I do color it as that's what my hubby likes - it was very dark brown when we married and more medium brown now...

Thanks Linda - it has been fun putting photos on old entries too! Especially on my pet tales (SW sister site) with my stories about our kitties.

Marijo, I just tried it and it did not work. In fact I tried it several times. Went to the upload tab which allowed me to select the photo from My Pictures. What shows when I sent it to server, however, is Latin. No photo. I don't get it.
