In Times of Trauma

Something traumatic happens. We grab for the cell phone and try to call a friend, someone special, and the line is busy. this is not something we want to leave a voice mail about nor play phone tag all day long. Why aren't they available? Why can't they pick up the phone and talk to us?

there is someone we can reach out to who will never be busy or tied up on the other line. We can talk to Jesus, God, the very creator of the universe. That is most incredible when you really think about it a minute.

This is a poem I wrote during "one of those times":

CRISIS

How can I make sense

When tears flood my logic

And I reach out

But there’s no one there

Only the hollow ringing

Of an empty phone at my ear

Why do I have to bottom out

Before I pour out my heart

To You, My Jesus?

And You were there

Arms waiting open

All the While.
