The following are two pieces I wrote about looking in the mirror and reflections.
Looking in the Mirror
Lifting sunlit eyes
Many faceted green
You wrought
When I was but
Womb bound
You brought
All Your pre-thought
Me
To be
Together found
Breath of life
You breathed
Holy Spirit ordained
Pre-held little one
Joyfully known
By the hosts
Of heaven
Before my mother
Had a clue
Cherished of God
Before my mother
Shed tears
Earthly sorrow
Uncontrolled
She made her choice
I was given life
Time
To grow
And glow and know
What You planned
For two celled
Me
Plans in time
And then Eternity
She’s with You now
And I thank her still
Her difficult choice
My life, my breath
As she exercised her will.
MY EYES, AT LAST SEE ME
The mirror reflects
Herself, herself, herself
Echoing and reechoing
Across the many faceted green
So real as to touch
With sure gentle hands
As he did to start
The season’s change
She sees
In the mirror reality
No more an image hazy
In the fog of sublimation
Or askew in line
With self deceit
But real
For she was touched by his hand
The hand which held hers
Gently
Over the paths
Through her mind
To honesty, reality
Echoing and reechoing
Across many faceted green
Her eyes reflect
Herself, herself, herself.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)thanks for the poem, MarijoeThanks Jack - one I wrote about 45 years ago but it sure fit the topic and the other is a thank you to my mom for choosing LIFE for me when she could have chosen otherwise!
You're such a wonderful poet, Marijo. You capture an essence with your words in a way that delicate and yet powerful.I probably have made many an English teacher cringe but I write my heart! I write what I dub "prosaic poetry" most of the time (prose-like?) Appreciate you and still hoping to get a note full of joy saying you got a kitten!
Hey, I will send you some!! Marijo
