gimme, gimme, GIVE ME

I used to go around
Thinking all I needed was
More of Jesus,
More of Jesus;
Jesus, give me more power
Lord, give me more faith
Help me go forward
Fill me with Your love
Jesus, give me encouragement

There was nothing wrong
With these prayers
Except when gimme, gimme
Became so loud
It all but drown out
Your sweet patient voice
Whispering
Marijo, give ME
All of you...
"My strength is made perfect
In your weakness..."
Marijo, yield your SELF to Me,
Marijo, GIVE ME Marijo.

Sometimes it seems we feel and look all too much like that toddler in the play area grabbing toys, saying "MINE!", not sharing and always grasping for more and more. Really, how many toys can one child play with at a time? Children need to be taught to share and be considerate of others. I was thinking about that in regards to our relationship with God and this poem seemed to flow out of those thoughts. Instead of grabbing what would the world be like if we thought more about giving. Doing unto others as we would have them do unto us....and giving our all to God?
