YOU are My Family

My aging parents have gone to be with the Lord. Though I don’t know my biological father nor his side of the family right now it is safe to say that I have one sister. The best sister a girl could have, Colette. Technically she is my half sister but there is nothing half about her. And she shares her kids and grandkids with me since I have never been pregnant and am not blessed with my own. She also had the very best hubby who, for 42 years now has graciously consented to be my brother-in-law AND lend me his siblings as my own.

Having said that, I would like to look at this family thing in a bit of a different perspective, I have close family in the Body of Christ. My home church is small, intimate and very interactive just like a family would be by our choice. I also have a couple of writer’s families that have stepped up during my current health issues.

Encouragement has come from all parts of the globe. It might be during the middle of the night when the pain meds are giving me nightmares/hallucinations and I need prayer back up. I can get online and contact people who will pray from numbers of writer’s sites, from Every Home for Christ where I worked for over 9 years and am still in contact and from Youth with a Mission where Mick and I met and served back in the 80s.

To me, life is all about relationship, first, our relationship with God and then our relationships with each other. You receive what you pour out into those relationships (well, the one with God can get pretty one-sided as we soak up His love but there is blessing in balance there too)

I cannot put into words how the support and prayers of all the “Stuffies” has helped me smile and carried me through these past few weeks. I mentioned before we might not always agree, what family does? But you all have gone out of your way to give me a hand, a word, your prayers and encouragement. You have lightened my load by helping me carry it. You have been there when the light dimmed to shine into my life. You have brought laughter into times that might have had that ingredient missing otherwise.

This is a perfect picture of what family is all about. I am blessed to call you Family and be a tangible part of yours even if you are now sorta  “Stuffie”. GRIN

Amazing what happens through the internet, isn't it? And I can think back not too far to when we didn't even have cell phones. Glad we are connected my sister!

Your ebullient spirit acts as a vehicle. I know you attribute everything to the Lord, but you have some distinctive qualities of your own. Thanks for being an example to all of us. With Love, Christofer
