Who Do We Look Like?

Two poems about who we resemble. Musings in poetic form. Enjoy.
Uniquely Peculiar
Lord Jesus, You gave me this mind
With flight of thought 5 lanes wide
All traveled at once.
Little fritzes, sputters and short circuits
Sparking, flashing and smoking
And generally full of static questions
My cerebrum, its occasional times
Of rare revelations grasped,
And burning, yet undisciplined creativity
A special gift from You.
Holy Spirit, I pray You'd remake and mold me
The mind of Christ within
Beautifully dominant
Yet the brush stroke of beauty You used
To make me uniquely me
Still evident with a fresh touch from
My Jesus' hand.
Gone, the stubborn, unyielding, willful me
Leaving to bloom in the beauty of Jesus
This peculiar person,
And all You intended "me" to be.
His Image in Us
Jesus came into my heart
He really set me free
And with His Spirit's fullness
Gave my spirit sweet liberty
'Twas for you and me He died
On that hill so long ago
And He put His image in us
So that all the world might know
He said to tell all nations
Of His great salvation plan
To share it with all we meet
Every woman, child and man
'Twas for you and me He died
On that hill so long ago
And He put His image in us
So that all the world might know
Does His image show in you?
Are you giving Him His way?
Do you shine with His light
Eagerly awaiting rapture day?
'Twas for you and me He died
On that hill so long ago
And He put His image in us
So that all the world might know

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)I liked this Marijo- Great imagery-
I think our soul is made up, if you will, of what we've managed to garner for it over time; and I think you've garnered quite a bit. I believe that "Rapture Day" is not a one time event, but is repeated over and over with each lifetime- that it's eternity. That it is a continuous striving for the perfection of our creator. You've come a long way Baby! :)- Thanks Always EllaThanks for coming by, Ella, I appreciate your encouragement! I guess we get to agree to disagree on the interpretation here as you know I am coming from a Biblical Christianity standpoint (full gospel at that) - am glad you can appreciate my attempts at poetry. Am almost 2/3 done with my radiation treatments and can't wait till it is over - it is actually going really well. Thanks again for reading and commenting!I disagree that we disagree Marijo......LOL- I think we just come at the same destinations from different directions- I would be interested in knowing about your experiences with these treatments- the bad and the not so bad- I think it would help a lot of us to experience this with you. Your poetry is heartfelt...human- I enjoy reading it. Again- Thanks- Always EllaI wrote more about the cancer odyssey earlier on when I was home (now I ride in with Mick and am in town all day long so can barely do wash, dishes and dinner when I get home and then we leave at 6:30AM again..... I had a partial mastectomy and then they revised the other side (2# off EACH side) so I would be the same - it is all me that is left and had 40 inches of incisions - that basically healed and now am having 30 days of radiation to the affected breast. They said I might get pink, red and blister and so far I am not much pinker than both sides were right after surgery - lots of prayer going up and I am taking my antioxidants although there is a big controversy about that in the medical community.....
Have met some wonderful people (medical and patients) and am learning tons even though I am a retired RN....
The very best doctor on my team is Dr. Jesus! GRIN
I am now more petite and clothes fit better than they have in years and am getting used to who I see in the mirror.Congrats on your victory- however you got there....:)
Marijo, the 2nd. poem was so great. I'm not saying the first one wasn't, but, you know me--a clinger to perfect rhyme. Only because, rhyme speaks to my heart so strongly--just like the old hymns! Great job.Tee-Hee - when I do a devotional based on some of my biblical poems I will be sure to dedicate the rhyming section to you my dear!
